After nearly 50 days of sea and land transport, a shipment of Mutsu apples produced at the orchard of Mr. Tomasz Bankiewicz from Komorów (near Radom) arrived in Vietnam. For the duration of the transport, the apples were protected with ethylene-absorbing sachets manufactured by Pomona Company Ltd from Żyrardów.
The apples were protected by placing the sachets directly into each carton containing 18 kg of fruit—one sachet in the case of smaller apples and two sachets in the case of apples of larger caliber.
The Eten Sachets work by absorbing the ethylene emitted by fruits, which causes them to ripen rapidly, rot, and ultimately lose the qualities required of a marketable product.
Once the shipment reached its destination, the Vietnamese buyer rated the quality of the apples as excellent, and the appearance and firmness of the fruit did not raise the slightest objection.
The positive quality assessment of the apples in this particular case is of enormous significance—not only for this single shipment, but for the entire Polish fruit export sector targeting distant markets. It confirms the high effectiveness of the Eten Sachets, and their use can prevent the situations that have become quite common recently, in which a single delivery of poor-quality fruit immediately creates a negative reputation for Polish exports as a whole.
The Eten Sachets are a patented product, and Pomona Company Ltd is their sole Polish manufacturer.
